Domaine des Deux Roches Pouilly-Fuissé Feuille de Vigne Réserve is an elegant white wine from the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation in Burgundy, France. This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in vineyards with clay-limestone soil and vines that are over 45 years old. The grapes are hand-picked and undergo a natural fermentation in oak barrels, followed by 12 months of aging on lees in barrel

Type of Wine: White Wine

CountryFrance

RegionBurgundy

Producer: Domaine Des Deux Roches

Alcohol Percentage: 13.5%

Viticulture: Organic Farming

Climate: Semi-continental climate with variations in temperatures

TerroirThe grapes come from three different parcels in the hamlets of Pouilly, Solutré and Fuissé. Ideally situated in suntraps on the slopes of escarpment of Vergisson. These parcels all have south-easterly aspects that expose them to sunlight and warmth, which stimulates photosynthesis, and allows Chardonnay to develop physiological ripeness quickly, under stress, in Burgundy’s precarious continental climate.

Ageing: The grapes are pressed slowly in a pneumatic press. The free-run juice is then drained and left to settle at low temperatures before it is transferred to oak barrels (30% of which are new) to undergo alcoholic fermentation. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is left on the lees to undergo malolactic fermentation. Then they are left to age, on the lees, and under oak, until the following spring (April/May).

Colour: Deep Gold

Palate: A complex palate of green apples, with hints of citrus, creamy oak notes, and a mineral austerity that perseveres into an impressive finish

Food Pairing: Poultry

About the Winery:

Based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, the Domaine is a joint project of Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region. Jean-Luc and Christian were childhood friends that each grew up in a family of winemakers and shared a bond from a young age. Always looking to achieve the highest possible quality for their wines, they achieved the High Environmental Certification in 2017 and are now working towards becoming certified organic. Following the success of Deux Roches, the friends now also boast a second property, Altugnac (Languedoc). Their wines are among the very best expressions of the diverse terroirs of the Mâconnais, from the bright and breezy Bourgogne Blanc Tradition, vinified and raised exclusively in stainless steel, to the rich, textured St Véran.
