Champagne Gamet Rive Droite Brut NV

This artisanal and family-owned estate in Champagne is a combination of two individual legacies: Victoire Garnier (Gamet) from Mardueil and Berthe Heucq from Fleury la Riviere. Their wines are made in stainless steel vats and oak barrels, offering a great diversity in style, finesse and savoir-faire. The blend of Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes creates a beautiful, golden colour champagne.

TerroirRive Droite (right bank) is a blend of the terroirs of Damery and Fleury-la-Rivière. Damery is located on the edge of the Marne river, while Fleury-la-Rivière is located at the bottom of the Valley, surrounded by the forest. An area well exposed to the sun lights, these terroirs welcome only Meunier and Pinot Noir in our vineyard. The soils are clay-limestone, sandy and “marneux” (soil type from the valley, sedimentary rock similar to clay-limestone soils). This part of the Valley offers great diversity but also a great heritage. Millions of years ago, instead of the vineyard, there was a tropical sea with rich biodiversity. Today, shells and other fossils are found on the soils of their vines, offering great Champagnes intense salinity. The age of vines is between 25 and 30 years old.

About the Winery:

An artisanal, family-owned estate in Champagne, Maison Gamet was born from a common heritage and a back-and-forth story between the Right and Left bank of the Marne Valley.

The story started with two women, Victoire Garnier (Gamet) from Mardueil and Berthe Heucq from Fleury la Riviere in the 1950s during the post-war period, a time when winemakers were returning back to their land. During this difficult time, they combined their efforts, contributed to the recovery of vineyards and influenced the growth of smaller, boutique winegrowers in Champagne. Shortly after, Francois Gamet (Victoire’s grandson) and Robert Heucq (Berthe’s grandson) joined in the family’s project. Both of them carried on their grandmothers’ legacy and became key and influential figures in the development of the Champagne region.

1992 was the year when both families were finally and officially unified, where Philippe Gamet (Francois’s son), married Fabienne Heucq (Robert’s daughter), combining their know-how and heritage to create their own Domaine – Champagne Gamet. Today, they are joined by their children Jean-Francois and Marianne.

Through generations, Champagne Gamet has preserved their traditional form of viticulture while incorporating a certain modernity. Vineyards are located on both sides of the river Marne, with Champagnes showcasing the varieted expressions of the left and right bank terroir. Their wines are also made in both stainless vats and oak barrels, exhibiting a great diversity in style, finesse and savoir-faire.
